New York, New York
We’d never been to New York before. So, we planned a five day visit in the middle of August as the start of a visit to New Jersey and the Cape Cod area.

For photos, I carried a compact Fuji X20, that produced super files in most lighting. Its size was perfectly unobtrusive for walking around New York. Well, five days gave us a little nibble out of the Big Apple. But what an incredible experience that little nibble was.
After a short rest from our red-eye flight, we discovered Everyman Espresso (West Broadway/Canal St.) for a kick-ass espresso, to launch us.
A Hop-On-Hop-Hop-Off was a great way to start our exploration of New York. We hopped on right away, taking the tour to the China Town/Little Italy area, where we hopped off. This was a perfect way to spend our first evening in New York, soaking up the flavours of these two neighbourhoods. Dinner was gelato at Ferrara. A very memorable evening.
Over the next few days our highlights were: taking a Hudson River tall ship tour (amazing), the top of the Rock, taking in a Kinky Boots play matinee, going to Grand Central Station, magical evening dinings in Little Italy, lunching at Carnegie’s Deli, relaxing Sunday afternoon in Central Park, walking the High Line, riding a bike tour of Central Park, visiting MoMa….and mostly lots of walking exploring all the related neighbourhoods and observing New Yorkers.
What a wonderful experience. Leaving us knowing we’ll be back for another bite of the Big Apple.
